SOLD!! 2009 Martin 000-18 Marquis (GE) - PHOTOS ADDED!! MINT!
THIS WONDERFUL GUITAR HAS BEEN SOLD TO A VERY LUCKY FORUM MEMBER!
Selling my absolutely dead mint 2009 Martin 000-18 Marquis. This is a stellar guitar in all regards. It has seen very little play time. It looks and smells new - as it essentially is. It's been a case/closet queen it's entire life. I had to almost use a magnifying glass to find any marks on it, but being the "anal" guy that I am, here is what little I can find: a few faint pick swirls on the pick guard, and a teeny-tiny, almost imperceptible indent on the back. Otherwise, it is like new: Headstock, neck, top, frets, etc. are all perfect. The original Geib style Martin case is the same - like new, mint condition. From what I understand, Martin only made about 60 of the 000-18 Marquis guitars before they stopped producing them and switched to the Authentic series (I believe they made substantially more of the GE version, but I don't know the exact numbers). The only difference between the GE and Marquis is the type of rosewood used on the headstock overlay and back strip. Brazilian on the GE, Madagascar on the Marquis. I understand this was done to minimize CITES issues when these guitars were transported out of the country. Otherwise, the specs are identical. These are absolutely fabulous sounding and playing guitars! (Note: I did not get this information from Martin directly. I gathered this info from threads and posts by some knowledgeable Martin folks on this and the UMG forums. If you have any additional info on these guitars please let me know). The Adirondack top on this one is off the charts gorgeous. Beautiful silking with a 3-D effect to it. It's one of those tops that you want to frame and hang on the wall as art! Here are the specs: Body Size: 000-14 Fret Top: Adirondack Spruce Top Bracing: Standard "X" Scalloped (Golden Era Style), Solid Adirondack Spruce ¼" Back: Solid Mahogany Back Purfling and Headstock Overlay: Solid Madagascar Rosewood Binding: Tortoise Color - brown Neck Shape: Modified V with 30's style heel Nut Material: Fossilized Ivory String Spacing: Nut: 1-¾"; Saddle: 2-5/16" Fingerboard, Bridge, Heelcap & End Pins: Solid Black Ebony Scale Length: 24.9" # of Frets clear: 14 # of Frets total: 20 Finish-Top: Polished Gloss w/ Aging Toner Finish back and sides: Polished Gloss Finish Neck: Satin Bridge Style: 1930's Style Belly w/Long Saddle Tuning Machines: Nickel Open-Geared w/Oval Buttons Pickguard: Delmar Tortoise Color - Beveled & Polished. Case: 533 Geib Style [/B] Price: $SOLD , includes shipping (Conus) and PayPal fees. I cannot imagine a more pristine example of a Martin 000-18 Marquis on the planet. Why am I selling this fabulous guitar? While I normally don't like to share my personal issues with the world, I understand some folks need an explanation: I had surgery a few days ago on my right hand (I'm right handed), and I have very limited to no use of it right now. This is the 4th surgery on my hands (3 on the right, and one, so far, on my left (fretting) hand - though that hand is scheduled for another surgery later this year). Due to a genetic condition this will only get worse, with more surgeries ahead. (I'm starting to feel a bit like Frankenstein!). As a result Mod V necks, like on this guitar, are too painful for me to play for any length of time. Photos below. Feel free to PM me, or text/call me on my cell: 805 540 - 0801. Thanks for taking the time to look at this ad. Have a blessed day!

Please don't post the pictures Mike......It will make me want to buy it even more. Same thing happened a few weeks back when pics were posted of George's Martin 00-18VS Ambertone.

Thanks Brandy! Yes, it most definitely is Awesome!!
The tone of this guitar was so beautiful I put aside my concerns of the Mod V and just followed my "ears" and bought it. It's actually a pretty soft V, and i was hoping I would be able to tolerate it. But alas, it's a no go. It pains me to sell it (literally!), but it really deserves to be in someones hands that can play it as it's meant to be played! Someone is going to get an incredible guitar. I believe I have it priced more than fairly, but feel free to hit me up with a reasonable offer.

Trust me Mike, I wish my current position were different. I'm instrument rich and cash poor at the moment.

If I hadn't just bought a vts 000-18 custom, I'd be on this like white on rice on a paper plate in a snow storm! GLWS

Thanks for the good vibes. Each day the hand heals a bit more. Stitches come out on Friday and I'm hoping at that point I can start "finger style rehab" (i.e.: start playing again!). Yeah, this is a stupid crazy deal on a really sweet guitar. I've already received 4 offers. Two are very close. It will probably be sold very soon. Have a fantastic weekend!
