A '42 L00 is a different beast though than earlier instruments. Easily identified by their bound soundhole, they were heavier built and featured scalloped X bracing which Gibson adopted on all models in 1941.

Did you get a chance to see Roy when he had Fats Kaplan with him on violin?

Nah I drove down to St Louis and saw him solo. Had no idea he played alongside Fats.

A nice-looking 1933 tuxedo L-00 just appeared on Retrofret’s “Just Arrived” page. It has the raised fretboard but lacks the solid liners (unkerfed “kerfing”). It ain’t cheap but it looks like a nice one…

Brain fart on my part. You are, of course, correct.

A look at the Retrofret page and the details for this tux Gibson show it has the 1 11/16” nut.....disappointing for fingerpickers. Out came my tux Waterloo WL-14X to play, 1 3/4” nut, big V, 2 3/8” bridge spacing... perfect!

I'm pretty sure its an error. They had another one listed a couple weeks ago that I inquired about that also said it had a 1 11/16 nut. They said it was an mistake and they would correct it.

CCD27441-E556-4D88-96F6-82B99A36BB8C.jpg. My 1938 Carson Robison Recording King. I X-Braced it 8 years ago. Gotta Love the Mojo look of that sweet old L-00. Congrats. Thanks for sharing the pics of the old factory! Glad to see it still Standing. Man I pray that building is put on the Historical Register and saved. That building Would make a cool American Instrument Museum. Put a restaurant in there. Small live music venue. If I had the $$ like Elon. I’d buy it save and restore it. It’s a National Treasure
