Isn't it the case that the M20 is the only USA guild that is Mortise and Tenon?
I believe my Oxnard D20 has a M/T neck joint, as does the regular D40. My D20 is a phenomenal guitar. Very different tone, but as good, (in an all-mahogany way) as I’ve ever heard.
Of course, my D40 Traditional, which has a dovetail joint, is the cat’s jammies .

Don't get hung up on that. I've seen tons of photos of dovetail joints when they are pulled apart for a reset and I can tell you that a LOT of these had shims and gaps when they were originally fitted at the factory.

The only reason I could come up with is the manufacturers figured the original owners would never see them.

The only disadvantage to a mortise and tenon neck joint is that neck resets are expensive. It's a fight to get them loose..

I have the M-40 which is the same model with a spruce top. Great guitar!

I have the M-40 as well. Nice knock around guitar. Not crazy about mahogany, though it does have its place.

You can add the F-40 to the M/T neck list, though the "Traditional" version has a dovetail joint.

For what it's worth, my Froggy Bottoms have mortise and tenon bolt-on necks too.

Oh, sorry, it hasn't arrived yet. I hope to get it by the weekend but I bet it comes next week.

Not sure. It'll be the fourth Guild I've bought, although I had a 70's F30 that I didn't keep for long because it needed work done that I didn't want to do.

But they've all sounded great.

I'll give a review when I get it.
