The next guitar...where to look?
Just looking for a few ideas. I'm hunting for my next guitar, but with so many options, it's getting hard to decide. I currently own a Seagull S6 Slim, and a Taylor 114e(which I got for an amazing price). So I've got rich sounding dread and a bright sounding GA, but I'm looking for a good "next" guitar.
I've been wanting an OOO/OM body style for a while now, and have even looked at a few single O guitars, but can't decide on any particular one. I tried out a mahogany top OOO ibanez, and I like the sound but couldn't deal with the poor build quality. Does anyone have any good suggestions on which brands and models I should consider? I'm thinking along the lines of a Mahogany top, mid range priced guitar, but I'm always open to other ideas. Electronics are not a must, but definitely a plus! I guess I could always sell off what I have and try to go big with the price, but I'd hate to do that, lol. Any help is appreciated! |

check out some Eastmans. They build a killer OM, and their new 12 fret 00s are pretty cool too. Or they also have the AC series which is less traditional and more taylor like
I think Eastman is BY FAR the best mid range builder |

I don't know if you have a Music & Arts store near you, but they carry some of the Eastman models. I bought an all-mahogany from Guitars Plus USA that is outstanding, but they don't have any more of these. Not sure how much money you're looking to put in, but the Taylor 32X guitars are very nice.

G.a.s.?
Hi, IMHO, I'd recommend to not get another guitar.
It will set-off G.A.S. I have been struggling with it for years, and have won so far, but at a high cost of wasted time and energy. Be happy with what you have now. |

Hi Matt
Another vote to audition the Eastman brand. You didn't mention a $ number but the Martin 15 series is mid range price when considering the cost of guitars. Also audition the Martin 17 series sitka top. And just to make sure your doing the right thing try a Martin 00018ge. The good news is your guitars will not take the big loss on the used market versus the $5,000 guitar that gets devalued $1,500 plus when it's time to sell.. |

Is like to stay under $600. As far under as possible, but that's my limit. Unless I sold my gear and went all in, but like I said, I really don't want to do that.

Buy a used Eastman from the AGF classified. Advertise WTB Eastman. Should only be a couple of days and you'll have your guitar.

Next guitar
This is too subjective for others to decide for you.
Just play everything you can get your hands on and you'll figure out what you like and what you don't. Just my $0.02 worth. |

I'm not looking for people to decide for me. I'm just looking for different brands and models to check out. Mainly which brands build well constructed guitars. Brands that maybe I haven't considered or even heard of yet.
I agree, you can't decide until you've actually played one. I've learned to avoid low end fenders and ibanez guitars, but what about Alvarez and Yamaha? I've heard mixed reviews about those two. |
