Default Suggestion for the forum

I was thinking that we could try celebrating people KEEPING/PLAYING their acoustic guitars rather than only celebrating new guitar purchases.

Maybe we could have GAD (Guitar Anniversary Day)?

That's going be a lonely place....
But I do agree, once you get off that revolving door, A light shines on all the mistakes you made while looking for the "One"

PS May 5th was my One year with my Taylor AD17e

New guitars are fun. I always enjoy seeing what people are buying, why and whether or not they like it. Besides, we all like a little recognition and attention when we’re excited about a new purchase.

How about getting this forum a “like” button, 😆

Interesting that you've mentioned this. I am in the process of writing an article like this about a guitar I have owned for forty-six years and that is fifty years old this year. Now it is an electric guitar, but I've always thought we needed to highlight the ones that panned out and stuck. The stories behind these are at least as interesting.

Or perhaps at least some threads about which guitar you have had the longest instead of what did you just get. In my experience the ones that have been with you 25-40 years are the best players. I have a handful that are in that age range. They are like old friends you have known since high school.

I think I'll just keep making a thread with some pics and a song or too if I feel like talking about a guitar I have. If it's new I'll probably say that.

You're welcome to read the post but you don't have to.

I bought my Taylor new - it can now drive, drink, vote and run for US House of Representatives. It's not old enough for the Senate, let alone Presidency.

April 6th was the 18th anniversary of my Larrivee OM-03R’s arrival into my life. It’s probably going to be buried with me.

My Ovation 1667. Bought new in 1983. Cost more than the car I drove it home in.

I really enjoy reading the NGD posts, but I also like the old guitar stories. Even more I enjoy a good instrumental piece posted in Show and Tell. Vocals are nice, but then the guitar becomes second fiddle and not the focus. I also enjoy the postings in Show and Tell by players on their way up in playing skills.

There is a relation of sorts between the many NGD posts and the number of guitars I have though

Maybe just a long thread that we can keep adding to?

I only know the actual date of 1 of my guitars, actually, because I bought it on my birthday a few years ago.

If anybody's anniversary day is today, they can start the thread

I like the idea! I have some pretty old (50 year, 80 year, 90 year, 150 year old) instruments that I’ve only had for maybe 5 - 10 years. I’ve also got some 50 year old instruments that I bought new (or nearly new).

The guitars I play the most all came to me in the past 15 years or less. But in that time I only sold one guitar. I’ve never (yet) been a trader/flipper/revolver/churner of guitars.

I have a 50 year old Conn (my plywood college dorm guitar) hanging on the wall
with a popped off bridge ... And a 20 year old "first good guitar".

I have traded, revolved and churned a bit these last five years and I'm glad.
Its how I arrived at these ones I like so much... the newest, another cracked J-35
is seeming to be a dream
