It's a convertible J-45!

Like it as much as other Gibsons I've seen, but sadly it's just over my thousand dollar budget threshold and may need some work.

I just looked again and took it all in a bit more, those first 7 frets needing replacing might be a deal breaker .

But, the seller is a music store with a huge sales history and 100% positive feedback, so I guess they are simply telling it like it is.

although that price is crazy isn't it ? I don't know Gibsons , but I've seen working J45's go for that kinda money, was 1974 a special year ?
(Being the best era for killer sunbursts doesn't count)

Just the opposite. You probably could just about get that price in the States for a mint condition '74. Mid 70's square shoulder Gibsons are generally not thought of that highly. Never thought of Germans as being that optimistic.

A rare example of when "topless" is a bad thing.

German prices do seem to have become very high in recent months, (they often pop up when I'm trawling the bay) I thought it was just the poor exchange rate with sterling but it seems to go beyond that.

I had a quick look at their site, prices are all sky high and they've got some real fugly guitars too.

You must never have been to a seniors' beach party.

Has a light, airy tone.

Uuuhh. I mean - I don't see the problem. If thin finish is good - no finish is better... And we always hear these prominent luthiers talk about "built on the edge of failure. Imagine the tone!

It's been on eBay for a while. I can't see why anyone would buy it, but who knows.
