Default GAS doesn't just change daily...but hourly!

I found myself today waking up GASing over a certain acoustic, only to start GASing after a certain electric hours later, and then ending up GASing after a different electric at the end of the day with little thought toward the original acoustic I was GASing over in the morning! Ha! I've been blazing through YouTube vids and Reverb ads like a crazy person. What a mess!

I've almost pulled the trigger on a certain guitar online about 6 times in the past two weeks. Tell me about it.

As long as binging YouTube while zombie GASing isn’t eating into your playing time…heck, I say enjoy it. Just don’t be seduced into buying something you can’t afford…or will tank the relationship with your spouse/significant other. Financial hardship and loneliness are not a fun pair.

Excellent point though! Both GAS and gas are way too expensive these days.

Yeah, I have been pretty GASy lately. Just bought and used acoustic online. Awaiting delivery. I’m already looking at a used electric. Maybe I need to let the GAS settle a bit while building my spending account back up.

I got like that with another passion for a while. It wasn't healthy. Work, finances and sleep were negatively impacted. I had to step back, decompress and find balance.

My suggestion is something healthy. Running shoes or a mountain bike? My neighbor has a super nice telescope and I've been thinking about getting one.

Maybe volunteer somewhere? Doing things for others is a way for me to break out of obsessive or habitual self-gratfiication.

I do the same thing, kind of. Though I take my time before pulling the trigger on an additional guitar. When a guitar I want to sell to fund another guitar takes a while I've often been glad. I want to be sure I'm all in when I purchase a guitar. I'm tired of guitar trading.

As someone who has experienced the phenomenon described in the OP, I have to wonder if it's simply ADHD taking the form of GAS...

Never REALLY had GAS.
I have, as it happens, acquired 3 guitars in the last year. Buying, selling, trading.
But, see, I NEEDED all 3. And now…..I need another one. But for a good reason.

The instruments I now have are too nice to leave out, so of course, I NEED a beater guitar to leave out.
I am treating my instruments with respect
I am keeping them pristine
I AM being responsible

And just to prove it…I REFUSE to spend more than 2K, unless it’s a really good deal , or I just want it.
OK?

I bought a few Truefire courses in their October sales, and I will say that learning and improving more has definitely put a bit of a damper on a "must get new guitar" feeling.

Honestly I feel like the money I spent on lessons has been way more rewarding than the money I spent on, say, most of the pedals on my electric's pedalboard.

So maybe commit to learning some new stuff and improving for a while, see what that does to your GAS?
