Default Epiphone Hummingbird Pro verses Gibson Hummingbird

Was thinking..
If you wanted a colorfull flashy looking square shoulder dred...
Is a Gibson Hummingbird sound and headstock logo really worth $2700 MORE THAN an Epiphone Hummingbird Pro copy?????.

That question can only be answered by someone looking for that sound, feel, or that difficult to define "something"......sometimes when your journey brings you to a certain point, the significance of the price difference has less and less importance.

I think the Epi J 200 held up pretty good to the Gib jumbo 200
for 10 times less moola....
and it looked pretty good too

A while ago I had spotted an Epiphone AJ 45 at Sam Ash. It looked just like my J-45 from a distance. It did not sound like one. As I played it the guitar reminded me of a Martin Whiskey Sunset and certain Waterloo guitars made by Collins that I've seen in videos. So when I want another blues box and don't want to over pay I know what to get. Similar looking guitars don't always sound the same

I've been down that road, and here's the problem: To my ears and for what I look for in an acoustic while OK, the Epiphones weren't good enough for me as the Gibsons were head and shoulders better, but not so exponentially better to justify the prices. But the SJ-200 was so much better than the EJ200 that I couldn't embrace the EJ and got gas for the SJ.

The Hummingbirds didn't have quite the sonic chasm between them, but I didn't care for either one, but that's me. I have nothing against Epiphones and have an older one myself. I'd rather have the right Masterbuilt than either the Epi Hummingbird or EJ. YMMV.

Epiphone Hummingbird Pro = A good Burger
Gibson Hummingbird = A good steak.
