I’ve been finishing up some loose ends and unfinished projects before my next guitar builds. One of them is this fretboard inlay. I really like these whales. I’ve used this design a few times they go well on anything Koa I guess it’s the Hawaii connection.
I try to use the natural features in the shell to enhance the image. Like the curly abalone on the back to give the image of water surface reflection. And the natural lines in the shell for the underside. It always seems wrong to cut the fret slots through them. Now to not sand through the details. |
