N(used)GD: Epiphone SST

Honestly, I wasn't sure where to post this one.

The guitar is a nylon string with a solid/chambered body, used mostly plugged in. The body is a thinline and about the thickness of a typical solid body electric. I only plan to use it plugged in. It's based somewhat on the Gibson Chet Atkins model.

The prior owner replaced the original pickup and preamp on it. I've heard they don't sound great from the factory, but with this new pickup it sure sounds good.

So, long story made short, I plan to use this mostly for synthesized and DI created sounds while recording. Similar to a Godin Multiac.

I am working on a new song and wanted some guitar synth tones. As luck would have it, I already have Guitar Rig 5 from Native Instruments as part of a package I bought a while back. I can tap into various amps and effects, plus they have some synth type sounds. I tried them with an acoustic steel string guitar, but it just didn't cut it.

So, I checked the local GC and they had a Multiac for $1100, but I didn't want to spend nearly that much. The local music store had this Epiphone for way less, and I thought it would be a good option. I was right! For the way I plan to use it, this guitar is perfect!

I'll be posting a song I'm working on soon in the Show and Tell section, and it will feature this guitar.

Stock photo from the internet below. The previous owner removed the electronics from the topside and replaced them with a brass plate (it actually looks good!). He or she then added a tone and volume knob to the front. It looks good and sounds great. I'll try to get a picture later today.

I said I would post up an example of it being used in a song. Here is a link to a song I just posted to Show and Tell. The "lead" is the Epiphone SST nylon string. I had a blast with this one.
