Thanks, Ericsong. I haven't set up a place to post pictures yet. At least that should answer the question about the sword. Pretty nice, eh? My other Omega is beautifully simple. The binding is tortoise. There is essentially the same abalone sound hole and decoration around the sound board as the new one pictured by Ericsong above, and NO inlays at all on the top of the fingerboard. It does, however, have a nice five piece laminate neck.

I wonder if the sword inlay is also a limited edition like the creation series?

In answer to the above question - series? When this guitar became available Kevin said that it was a special order designed by a person who played celtic music. This was an interesting situation. The person ordered two guitars, the other is quite similar (woods), but w/o the inlay. When they were close to finished the buyer was unable, at that time, to complete the purchase. They apparently sat unfinished for quite a while. Their numbers were 277 and 278, and Kevin is around 500 now. The other guitar was pictured earlier in this thread. Kevin offered the sword guitar with the option of replacing the neck with a simple plain neck. I'm not sure why someone wanting a guitar by Kevin would evn consider that option. Long story to answer a simple question. The sword was not intended as a series, but as a custom design. Nothing, of course, would stop Kevin from making more of them.

Would love to see that inlay with the frets and strings on....
500 guitars? That speaks alot about the quality of his works.

the sword is defintiely not a series, just a special order as stated before. the only series I know, is his creation series. he is also thinking about doing the lion series!

Rotator Cuff Surgery
I'm anxious to get back to building the guitars that I have in my shop and really appreciate all of the encouragement.
My surgery for tomorrow was cancelled due to an insurance issue. My medical insurance will cover the surgeon and operating facility in full, but won't cover the supplies necessary to perform the procedure like bio screws, small plates and eyelets and even the stitches. In reality, it's the doctor who will accept payment for his services and his facility from them, but refuses to accept their payment for those supplies. A great testimony to the state of medical care and the priorities that they embrace, but it is that way. He listed for me the supplies in question and they included eight small meducal grade screws, 12 bio screws with eyelets to secure bone achored stitches, a metal plate measuring 3/8" by 1 1/4" with six small coutersunk holes and the necessary stitching materials to close the incisions. It all looks like what would add up to a total of less than $10.00 in actual worth, but medical pricing is much like that of the government and the total billing amount for this short list of hardware was $1000.00. I'm still trying to figure it out. Even a very generous estimate of their actual value would have fallen well below a hundred dollars. I've been rescheduled to have the surgery on October 18th at another hospital that will allow my coverage for all aspects of the procedure. I'm never surprized that the insurance companies and doctors are never selective about which of the almost three thousand dollars they will accept from me each month and which they will not accept...they gladly take them all. It does always amaze me when they get selective and restrictive concerning what they'll allow those dollars to cover. I'm happy to be in the place that I'm where the things that I do don't carry people's lives or health in the balance. Thanks again, Kevin Gallagher Last edited by Kevin Gallagher; 09-28-2006 at 10:33 AM. |
