Mmm the question is whether I can figure it out and capture that bossa nova groove like he does.
Very nice but sounds like a samba to me.

I didn't know he died and have wondered what happened to him.
Old Rocker,

Wow! What a coincidence you were in Ft Worth when I was in Dallas.

Regarding BW Stevenson, I was so certain that he was Fretkiller that I decided to do some searching on the Internet before I shot my mouth off. Good thing I did -- I found this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/B._W._Stevenson

I'm sure you'll have the same let-down reaction as I did to see that BW Stevenson died so young. What a shame.

But it's certainly a compliment to Fretkiller that I thought he was good enough to sound and play like BW.

Best regards, Glenn

I don't care if it's 12 people. I love listening to the videos. I wish he would put out a cd because I really love some of his arrangements and vocal phrasings, but when I wrote to ask, the reply was that he was only doing the videos.

Wow! The man can play. OK. The understatement of the century. If I could play like that--well, I'd be doin' it! Superb.

Thumbs up

I've enjoyed his playing a lot and his voice is....his voice, sounds fine to me. He's not pretending to be someone he's not, he's just not wanting all of us to know for some very good reason who he is.
I have always thought he might be under contract and is keeping his identity unknown for that reason.
Danny

Thanks for the link to http://vidtomp3.com/ that sounds like a great idea

I had never watched Fretkillr. Dang good and my guess would be that he is a studio musician. If not, he could be.
I also like B.W. Stevenson and used to have his greatest hits album. Always liked his line:

That is major league talent right there.

I've tried to tie in breathing with the singing, but I don't see any obvious signs that the guy playing guitar is pumping enough air to sing like that.

It's certainly not conclusive, but the absence of obvious breathing and singing "effort" leads me to believe that it is certainly possiblethat fretkillr is a collaborative effort.

Regardless, I'd buy the CD and pay $$ to see the show.

Thanks for the link.

Well, here's a thought... I just watched Mr Bojangles and noticed the omnipresent "wire" obviously bouncing along with the singing. It must be a lavalier type headset mike direct to the camcorder.

That would explain why the singing sounds a bit disconnected. One also need not sing "loud" or breathe heavily with that kind of rig.

I've changed my opinion. I think this is a solo effort.

I wonder if he is reading all this and laughing like crazy at our analysis. All the same, I'd love to have a cd I could listen to in the car, or other places when I can't use my computer.

Here is a link just provided on another thread from this forum to allow you to do that. I've not tried this yet, but here is the forum link, too.

McCain and Obama channeling Maury Muehleinsen and Waylon Jennings. On Wednesday all will be revealed.
