Default Action ???? a Little Different

Not asking what action "should be."

Just more curious as to how much difference in playability does .010", .020" etc at 12th fret make in ease of play.

How little is worth doing? Is .005" worth doing, can you feel it? .010"?, .020"? etc.

At what point do you really notice a difference?

Just wondering. Thanks

Depends upon the person and how sensitive he/she is to differences.

.005" of difference at 12th fret will be noticeable to some but not to others. I would hope that most experienced guitarists would notice a .010" difference at 12th.

I find 'highish' action at the 12th fret can be uncomfortable but can usually adapt and play around it whereas high action at the nut is almost impossible to play and tires out the fret hand really quickly.
