New Gibson Humming Bird vs New Martin D 45
New Gibson Humming Bird vs New Martin D 45
Does anyone have an preference to either one of these? Im finding they are apples and oranges. one is warmer and the other is just as warm but way louder and resonant... |

If you were going to give me one...
My choice would be the D-45 hands down! |

Post the pics! I prefer the D45 and would presume it's louder. But, I'm curious as to your assessment. Cheers!

How can one be warmer, while the other is just as warm?!

D-45 all day long.

The seemingly obvious choice, unseen and unplayed, is the Martin - but at that level they would need to be played and assessed first.

Apples vs oranges for sure, but as long as you're asking, I'll take the D-45. Welcome to the forum BTW.

Hi by the way !!
Hi to everyone ..I am new..sorry for the late intro....
thanks for all the great replies....Yes, "how can one be warmer and the other just as warm"...very true... you all pretty much said what I was thinking,,,the D 45 is awesome.. Yes , allot more $ , so it better be right? the reason I posted this question is because I was trying to rationalize not returning the Hummingbird because it is so freeking beautiful , and it does sound great...But if I had to only keep one, it would be the D45. Luckily, I can keep both.. The Bird is a smoother, softer tone from bottom to top,,the D-45 has the same bottom to top in general, just WAY more resonant and louder. It is the sound I've always dreamed of. It almost plays itself. I'll get some pics up this weekend ! Cheers! |

If its a True Vintage then Id choose the Humminbird. If youre looking for the chime of a 40 series Martin then consider a J-40.
