Question ES Real or Memxxxxx

Just read one of the thread regarding the problems with the ES
System. I had my 814 stolen and have a new one on order, but
now I'm wondering if I have made a mistake in ordering the
guitar at this time. How extensive is the problem with the ES
System? How many of you that own a new Taylor with ES, have
had problems? I want a guitar I can play, not say I own a Taylor
but it's in the shop!!!!!!!!!!!!

I posted a thread ("ES Developement Questions") about the ES system just a little while ago-it contains a link to a discussion with a bit more of an insiders enginering viewpoint. You may want to check it out.

Thumbs up

I have a 2003 810CE since April and have had no problems with the ES System, but I have had problems with 2 of the TRS/XLR cords that comes with it....

I own a Taylor, but it's at the Taylor factory

My frustration is escalating. When I first talked with Cliff he told me 1-2 weeks. After 1 1/2 weeks I called Mike Tobin to get an update and he told me it should be a few days. I just talked with Cliff today (after 2 1/2 wks) and he said they've been telling people 4 weeks not counting shipping and couldn't tell me when it would be done. Well there's no turning back now and hopefully your's will be okay

My 812CEs was made in March 2003 and I haven't had any problems at all.

My 814cES was born in April 2003 and I've used the ES 3x without flaw.

My 414CE has the ES, and was built in April 03. No problems whatsoever with the ES - I have used it in the home, and with two different PA systems.

I did have a problem with the cord that came with the guitar, it was noisy.

I have one of the "dreaded" January 2003 models. It has worked from day one - except for when I had to change the batteries.

Relax and enjoy your new guitar with an excellent pickup system.

Cool

My JDCM with ES (born April 7, 2003) works great. I've used it almost every day since the guitar came to live with me the end of April. No problems at all with the ES.

MAKE it a GREAT day!!!

My 855e/ES went back to Taylor twice. They were very good about the whole situation. Mine was a very early build. It was ordered the first day Taylor opened after the Christmas break. The guitar is dated 01/31.

It has now played beautifully from April to today.

From the number of forum members posting about problems it is pretty clear that many of the guitars suffered "infant mortality" in their electronics. Most seemed to fail almost immediately or did not work when delivered. Taylor did everything they could to service my guitar including air shipping in both directions. Yes, it was frustrating to deal with at the time; but now it does not matter. I am not a performer so the inconvenience was minimal.

The 12 strings with ES sound twice as good as the 6 string ES guitars. I play mine at home through a Mackie mixer and then into a high end stereo system with Altec Lansing "Voice of the Theatre" studio monitors.

That is my humble oppinion, but I have played several 6, 8 and Walnut series ES guitars and my 855e/ES blows them away.

My 514ce was born on feb, 11th and my 510 (all mahogany) was born on may 15th. Both have performed perfectly since day one. I have a 555 (all mahogany) coming soon as well with the ES. I am really looking forward to hearing the 12 string with the ES.

Default No worries

My new 814CES was born april 7th 2003 and worked perfectly! No problems on many different amps and even straight into a mixer!
I've also played a 414RCES LTD twice and it worked perfectly as well! Don't worry. I have gone through the same anguish when I waited for my 814CES (look for the threads a while back) and there was no reason. Also, The ES installed now is an upgraded and updated version of the first ES.
