Default Ok then... what were some of the Best threads of 2014?

I honestly wasn't trying to be inflammatory with the last thread nor was I about to mock anyone or of course expect anyone else to. Some of the 'worst' threads to me were actually quite hilarious in a good natured way.

So that aside... what were some of the best threads in 2014 and what would you like to see continue or suggest as new?

There's a thread over in Open Mic on music trivia I've been thoroughly enjoying the last few weeks. Good stuff!

Nothing sorts out memories from ordinary moments. It is only later that they claim remembrance, when they show their scars.

Chris Marker, La Jetté

The more provocative ones, which inspired spirited debate and many hilarious responses, seem so much easier to recall. Maybe Chris Marker was right....

I'll re-iterate that the stuff on Toby's Duck Dynasty experience ranks right up there.

More recently, I also really dug the thread on James Cagney's Martin, particularly since it contained that vid of Groucho Marx and his Gibson. Both of these were cultural artifacts I was not even aware of. Good stuff.

I always enjoy Bruce Sexauer's build threads in the custom shop. He doesn't start a new one for every guitar - just adds to the same thread until the mods make him start a new one. Not only photos of great guitars under construction, but an occasional classic motorcycle or camping trip thrown in as well. Good sound clips too.

One that springs to mind, is the Piedmont Blues thread. This thread introduced me to Eleanor Ellis and Archie Edwards. After some searching, I now have two Archie Edwards CD`s and one by Eleanor Ellis. Fantastic stuff. The downside, the week I `discovered Eleanor`. I found out that she had been in the UK the week before, and played a gig 10 miles from my home!! Arrgh!!

I liked hearing about what folks do in "the real world" off forum. That was probably the thread I enjoyed reading most.

We had a lot of stories of triumph this year.
Halcyon Guitars makes it through it's first year (with lots of business from AGF members).

Some parents watch their kids play and progress.

One kid got his dad back into playing.

Grandparents getting guitars for grandkids.

Good stuff.

I always enjoy reading some of the inspirational ones as well. There was one where a father bought his daughter her first guitar which brought joy to the whole household.
