Default Rock and Roll day, it has to do with your guitar

Hi guys....
Many of us start playing guitar because of Rock and Roll. I started listening The Rolling Stones, Beatles, Led Zeppelin etc. etc.
I don't know whether I celebrate or cry. Anyway today is the day (according the conventions). For me, definitely, rock and roll has died some quite long ago.
The world is quite becoming pasteurized. All it counts to the general mídia is a couple of beauty faces and a hit (sic).

rock and roll turned my soul...

i have to say, the idea of rock and roll day is kind of bizarre: it juxtaposes "sticking it to the man" with reverence for the known.

i think rock and roll is still alive and in a big way, but it changes for each generation.

the world isn't becoming so pasteurized, but what is marketed and sold to us perhaps is.

what exactly does one do on rock and roll day, besides, of course, the obligatory rocking and rolling?

My first album was from my parents, Christmas 1967... The Royal Guardsmen, especially memorable was "Snoopy vs the Red Baron". I enjoyed their 2006 comeback with "Snoopy vs Osama bin Laden".

Was this Rock & Roll? For me it was at 10 years old... been addicted to music ever since.

I've been a rock fan since I got my first AM radio in the late 50"s, but I'm a little confused...isn't every day "rock'n'roll day"?

Of course these are extremely subjective lists. But a Rock & Roll list that has a soft, introspective ballad like "Imagine" in it's top 5 along with a first twenty that includes folk/protest songs like "Blowin in the Wind" makes you question (once again) what the term "Rock & Roll" actually means.

I thought the same thing. The list had 'Bridge over Troubled Water" on it and I thought that is not a Rock song!

I completely disagree. Rock and Roll is alive and well.

Let's not try to compare today's pop with our favorite classic rock and roll. I would understand a complaint about how the record companies and music industry has pushed what is popular today, but there are SO MANY NEW bands out there playing rock and roll and a lot of it is really very good (and some great).

Many of us also fall into that trap of connecting the music of our younger years with the great moments we had at that time. That's a great thing, but no reason to close our minds to new music.

One of the things I immensely enjoy today is finding new music I like either by digging for it myself or by others sharing with me.

Hi guys, thanks. Very good insights about the theme.
Overall you're all definitely right; rock and roll will never die.
But, with no melancholy or nostalgia, I can't see BIG and great bands as it used to be such as Queen, Jethro Tull, Genesis, Credence Clearwater Revival and many more.
For me the last REAL rock band I have heard was Nirvana. Since then only copycats and "pre formatted" faces and sound tricks.
Have a nice Sunday everybody

How can rock and roll be dead as long as people are still playing it?

Hi @MrMartyr maybe I wasn't lucky in my words. I meant "dead" in the sense of there's no great bands as it used in the 70's maybe 80's and quite rarely in the 90's, but of course you're right, I would never stop playing and listening good old rock an roll music.

P.S.: Hey man , you are a great artist. Nice job on graphite. Keep it up, always !
