Killer58 I can't possibly say all that I want to say. I'm not sure I even know the right words. My heartfelt gratitude goes out to you and all your fellow servicemen (and women) for the job you have undertaken. You all will be in my prayers. I fervently pray for your safe return.

Here's a note I sent . . . I hope you enjoy the attached stories (you fellow jar-heads can relate):

Hello Marine,

Hope you don't mind me sending this to you, but you did put your email address in the Taylor Forum . . .

I've been out since 1975 but you know, "once a Marine, always a Marine

Anyway, I think you should have your Baby Taylor shipped to you over there. For the price of a Baby Taylor (better yet, have them ship you a Big Baby!) even if it gets trashed by the end of your tour of duty, it will be well worth it. Having your git-fiddle there to take your mind off of things and to share some quality time, fun and music with your fellow "grunts" is a small price to pay!

Here's a couple stories (the first one is true) that you might enjoy . . .
__________________________________________________ __________________________________________________ ______________________
Here's one for you . . . .

From a Marine in Bosnia. (Note the signature, but read it last.)

A funny thing happened to me yesterday at Camp Bondsteel (Bosnia): A French army officer walked up to me in the PX, and told me he thought we (Americans) were a bunch of cowboys and were going to provoke a war. He said if such a thing happens, we wouldn't be able to count on the support of France.

I told him that it didn't surprise me. Since we had come to France's rescue in World War I, World War II, Vietnam, and the Cold War, their ingratitude and jealousy was due to surface at some point in the near future anyway. That is why France is a third-rate military power with a socialist economy and a bunch of faggots for soldiers.

I additionally told him that America, being a nation of deeds and action, not words, would do whatever it had to do, and France's support was only for show anyway. Just like in ALL NATO exercises, the US would shoulder 85% of the burden, as evidenced by the fact that the French officer was shopping in the American PX, and not the other way around.

He began to get belligerent at that point, and I told him if he would like to, I would meet him outside in front of the Burger King and beat his *** in front of the entire Multi-National Brigade East, thus demonstrating that even the smallest American had more fight in him than the average Frenchman.

He called me a barbarian cowboy and walked away in a huff.

With friends like these, who needs enemies?

Mary Beth Johnson LtCol, USMC

Here's another one . . .

Little Melissa comes home from first grade and tells her father that they learned about the history of Valentine's Day.
"Since Valentine's Day is for a Christian saint and we're Jewish," she asks, "will God get mad at me for giving someone a valentine?"

Melissa's father thinks a bit, then says, "No, I don't think God would get mad. Who do you want to give a valentine to?"

"Osama Bin Laden," she says

"Why Osama Bin Laden," her father asks in shock.

"Well," she says, "I thought that if a little American Jewish girl could have enough love to give Osama a valentine, he might start to think that maybe we're not all bad, and maybe start loving people a little bit. "And if other kids saw what I did and sent valentines to Osama, he'd love everyone a lot. And then he'd start going all over the place to tell everyone how much he loved them and how he didn't hate anyone anymore."

Her father's heart swells and he looks at his daughter with new found pride. "Melissa, that's the most wonderful thing I've ever heard."

"I know," Melissa says, "and once that gets him out in the open, the Marines could blow the **** out of him."

Hehehehehehe good one Mike ! Send me those guitar pics. I got an e-mail from Dave (killer58) he described some of the landscape and evironment. You know what ? Let's appreciate America and each other. Our own opinions don't count as much as our behavior towards each other. I'm looking forward to having Dave in my home again playing his K22 when he does come back from his tour of duty.

Default Many many many thanks

Thank all of you very very much for the kind words and well wishes. Those of you who have been there know how special words from home are. Sure is a change from the response we used to get back in the late 70's!

However, before you all make me out to be some kind of hero, I've got a confession: The military and flying have been my dream since I can remember. There isn't anything I'd rather do. (However, playing Taylors is a close second) Matter of fact, not only would I do it for free, I'd pay for the privilege! So, in fact, it is I who owe all of you thanks; it's your hard earned tax dollars that allow me to live my dream.

So, I'll make you all a deal, you keep letting me live this fantasy, and I'll do my best to protect you.

Cisco, you're on Bro! I'm crashing your place when I get back!!!

BTW, haven't heard from Steve yet, would someone give him a shout and ask him to write me?

Thanks again everyone!

Regards and SF,
David

The son of a close friend of mine is on his way over. This is getting really close to home when things like that happen. Makes one just that much more aware of how real this is. Of course, for Killer58, it's about as real as it gets, as they say.

That said.. if he doesn't have a guitar.....like a baby taylor.... over there... why don't we send him one? At least a taylor tshirt.

I'd contribute. Man, the guy is over there serving his country, even if he DOES like flying, etc.. he's doing something most of the rest of us never had to do... I think it would be a nice thing to do for a guy so far from home...

I'll contribute.. anyone else?
