Default What I like.

Sunday afternoon. A dozen buffalo wings, a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc, and a remote that switches between the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Lindsey Buckingham Live at the Bass Performance Center on my HD set.

Life is good.

Try it. A good crisp white wine with hot wings is a surprisingly good combo. No need for anything expensive - a $10 bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc works great.

Tempranilo, eh? I'll try it. And the only SOCCER match on was a boring Manchester City game.

I moved from Tampa Bay to Minneapolis. The Vikings are an interesting team with interesting fans. I haven't gotten into it but I did use to get into the Bucs. Don't really get into Pro anymore, more college - I am a Gator! So for me, replace Bucs with UF walloping a team like Tennessee. Or next week - UF- UGA!

As usual, I'm the "odd man out". I don't drink, smoke, and rarely watch any sports. :-0 Yep, I know - "weird"!

But -- if you have found a good safe way to relax -- then more power to you!
Our society tends to overly "reward" work and discourage relaxation... pretty messed up values (IMO).

take care and be well!

Forums are so interesting. Such a panoply of perceptions, intent, and meaning.

Lately when I'm not doing physical work on my small farm, I will turn on a football game, but with the sound off. Then I play the guitar. If the game gets really interesting, then I'll turn up the sound, but usually after a while, the guitar takes over. I'm afraid that after I've done a bunch of work, if I don't play the guitar during a game, I'll just fall asleep.

I'm with you there. I don't smoke, drink and I will watch the Buffalo Bills play, most of the time, and that's about it.

I am also one who believes that this culture rewards workaholism and discourages a life style that is more evenly balanced.

Sometimes this argument is used to condone laziness. True, some people are balanced and that's admirable. What I've usually noticed, though, is that individuals tend to lean one way or another. Oftentimes either they are a go-getter, or they are an underachiever. Though neither extreme is ideal, having worked successfully in the big business world and retired early, I'd much rather be around a go-getter who makes things happen in his life than a couch potato who never gets a grip on the reality that he is, in large part, responsible for how his life turns out. It's a fine line.

Yeah. A good football game, bacon cheeseburger and fries. And potato chips, of course - with an icy cold Coke. A long walk on a scenic trail, a good round of golf, or a good game of tennis. And of course, a romp with the grandkids.
