Certainly not a knock on the 15-series...they're great guitars based on their popularity, just sharing my personal experience & opinion. Again, this guitar might be a total freak, but I've also had high-end all-hog guitars that I didn't like as well. It's completely mind-boggling to me to say the least, but if it wasn't that good, I wouldn't have brought it home...crazy!

Good to hear, nice score!

I've been considering the Ibanez all-hog parlors, the AVN5 or the AVN9. Don't want to spend much, and these have all that I want in a cheap parlor, although I wish the nut was 1 3/4".

Not a freak at all. I spent 15-20 minutes AB'ing this vs. a Martin 15 and it was right there.

BTW did you personally remove the pickguard?

No, the pickguard is still on it--at least for now. It's a cheap pickguard and I was considering taking it off, but I think the guitar looks good with a pickguard.
Since the guitar was so inexpensive, I may spring for a Greven style small teardrop...I think that would look amazing!

My bad. I guess at was looking at fazool's pics. I'm wondering how difficult/easy they are to remove.

Welcome to the club of Folks Amazed By Cheap Ibanez Acoustics. I've got an AVC6 that I'm floored with every time I pick it up. I also played an Ibanez 12 fret dread that I haven't been able to get out of my head. They make some really really nice guitars for very cheap prices.

Congrats! I confess I've always passed these by, assuming that any guitar that inexpensive with such a good looking top must be all laminated. Not the first time I was dead wrong ...

Congrats. At that price it will never owe you a thing. Handsome guitar too.

Last time I was in a GC acoustic room (to meet a craigslist seller with an Eastman) I picked up a $300 Epiphone and was shocked in a similar fashion.

Nice one! I think things you were sunk for a new guitar at the point you "Had some time to kill before an appointment today, so I stopped in my local GC for a bit." Enjoy!

Congrats! I consistently hear good things about that guitar. Matching up to Martin's style 15 is pretty impressive. Especially at it's price point...enjoy!

Make sure you play one first. I've been jonesing for a 00 size Hog top. I tried 2 of the Ibanez all solid Hog parlors and was totally unimpressed. I didn't expect it to sound like my ac240, but it wasn't even in the same ballpark. Not just in volume either. I found their tone very weak and anemic. Just my .02
