Never really considered putting those strings on a guitar but I have been thinking about trying a set of titanium core strings on my daughters uke.

There are a couple of other threads on these strings and I know that someone posted having a breakage problem, contacted Martin and replacement set was sent. I have heard that titanium strings can be brittle. But, you may have gotten a bad set. For what they cost, it would be worth it to notify Martin about your experience.

Best,
Jayne

A characteristic of Titanium is something called "notch sensitivity". Basically that means while Ti is very strong (particularly for its weight), cracks very easily propagate through it when they have a place to start - a scratch or a "notch".

Perhaps there is a little burr or sharp edge on your tuning machine post?

Breakage I would expect from a $3.00 set. This is crazy.

Default Martin Titanium

Interesting that strings broke.
I've tried a set on 4 different guitars, NO problems!
As well, I like the tone. Nice addition to the tone I received from D'Addario's and Elixirs.
Will continue with them....
