I always considered myself a hog man until I brought a martin 00-28VS and absolutely love it. I have decide I am at my most fulfilled when I have a fine example of both at my disposal. Chopping and changing between the two is just heaven.
So my advice would be if you own mainly hog guitar go with rose and vice versa.

It just depends on what type of music you are playing and the style you lean toward. Personally I prefer 14 fretters. But I love dreads so I think you need both hog and rw.

I have a Martin D15S that is all mahogany. I describe the sound as being soft and mellow.
