Default K&M capo for 12 string dreadnought guitar

Basically I'd already ordered a capo - the K&M 14545 - but that's been backordered and the shipping date keeps getting pushed back.

So I'm looking at the K&M 14540, it's also for 6 and 12 string guitars and for flat or "slightly curved" fretboards.

I'm ASSUMING this should also be OK for a 12 string dreadnought? (The Sigma DM12E)

While I've never heard of Konig and Meyer, the capo is interesting.
That said, for a 12-string there is nothing I'd recommended higher than the Paige 12-string capo.
But as it's got sleeves to specifically push down the treble strings, I'd get one for each 12.
For a 6-string, the Shubb is about the best capo you can get.
Thalia makes great capos that can be customized to any guitar by changing the pads.
Only drawback is the price. Though it isn't quite as dear as an Elliot.

I decided to go with the Shubb C3 model - for 12 strings! I actually have a Shubb for 6 strings and it's great.

I thought the K&M worked in the same way but actually you gotta screw and unscrew it when you take it on and off everytime, so you have to dial it in everytime you use it!

The Paige 12 string isn't available here in Holland or around here, the Shubb was the next best thing and I think it's the "best" - should arrive tomorrow so let's see!

Thanks for the advice!!!

Default K&M capo for 12 string dreadnought guitar

Glad to help.

I have a Shubb for my six strings.
I bought the Paige because it was wide enough for the 12.
Then I finally took the time to put the sleeves for the treble strings on.
They cover the trebles for the first four strings.
And for the first time, I didn't have to retune extensively when capoing

After owning a regular Shubb for years (still in perfect working order), I just got a new 12 string model Shubb C3, which also works great on my six strings, even most of the way up the quite chunky neck of my 1.3/4" Martin mod V neck dread.

I also like the PlanetWaves capo , they do a 12 string model too

@Oldguy64: you didn't know a Shubb 12 string existed or you prefer the Paige? I never had issues on 6 strings of it detuning, if I get it dialed in right I'm sure I won't have issues on the 12 string either :-)

@Long Jon: I tried the clamping capos when I first started out playing guitar and they detuned the guitar so badly. My guitar teacher suggested the Shubb and I've stuck to it ever since. I was looking at those Planet Waves once too but you have to screw/unscrew them like the K&M, which isn't ideal to me.

When I bought the Paige, I googled 12-string capos.
It had the best explanation of how and why it worked.
Then it lived up to its own hype.
