Default SNARK Like you've never seen before..

I bought a 10 pack of the triple "A" battery holders, with on/off switch. They cost me $5.00 for 10 of them.

I took my SNARK apart. ONE single screw inside the battery slot, and the front comes off.
I wired the battery box directly to the SNARK. Watch Polarity.
I then super-glued the case to the bottom of the SNARK. Scrape paint off.
Then tried it on my Guitar.
These batteries will last a LONG, LONG, Time, and are very cheap to replace. Also you don't need high dollar batteries, Dollar Store 'AAA' will work fine.
I tried it first on my Red SNARK, NOW to the Black One.
Batteries are much easier to change also.

Dan

Looks good but I think your F# might be a bit high in pitch. Good idea and good job.

The one thing I wonder about is if the AAA's drop voltage more rapidly as they age, so that they may not give accurate readings for as long. I'm not saying that's the case because I don't know. just wondering if it might be and if anyone else knows. I guess a related question is whether the disc-type battery has a longer shelf life when not under load. Again, just asking, not suggesting.

that's great, but in order to bring me back to the Snark, someone needs to invent a conversion that makes it sturdier. I own two Snarks, and on both, the swivel broke long before the battery wore out...

Nice! How does it feel with that little extra weight on the very end of the neck?

Dan, that's some great initiative. Now, if you could only add a flux capacitor to your Snark ...

Very ingenious. Cool.

But can't you replace a snark for about the same price as a pack of AA's?

Yes if you buy Energizers. But if you buy the Dollar store 10 for $1.00. They will last quite awhile in the Snark. Plus the last time I gigged, I didn't see any Snarks for sale. But I did have a battery in my pocket.

I have a nuclear powered Snark, but I lost my camera and can't take pictures.

All seriousness aside, Dan (er, I mean Larry) your work looks great.

Clever! But, and I am being completely serious, what is the point? You take a small lightweight and elegantly designed machine and you switch the power supply to a more massive and cumbersome one. Isn't it kinda like modifying a vibrator to run on a Caterpillar diesel?

Speaking of snark, I believe that we are both guilty of it.

I've had 3 Snarks for over a year and a half, and haven't broken one yet. How do they break. Do you hit them, or leave them on in the case ?

Oh great.

Now my wife is looking up Caterpillar diesels on eBay.

It's not for everyone. I just don't like putting out $3.00 for a battery every few weeks. This way a set of 'AAA's will last a year. Cumbersome, Yeah you are right I had to readjust my truss rod to get the bow outta the neck. Originally I was going Nuclear, But have you seen the price of Plutonium lately. Then I tried a solar cell, But I had to tape a Flashlight, to the neck of the Guitar, so the solar cell would work. I did try the Diesel approach, but they wouldn't allow a running diesel motor in the bar. Fumes you know.
