Default Just had an offer accepted on a flat!

Some of you might recall I recently sold some guitars to help in getting a deposit together for a mortgage. I’m looking after my mum for medical reasons and we’re having to make do with a one bedroom private tenancy, the circumstances aren’t ideal at all. I was anticipating being in a position to make offers in September at the earliest.

Well, the stars aligned and I just had an offer accepted on a three bedroom ground floor flat in Perth. It’s ex-local authority so really good value for the money, 83 square metres whereas most places in my price range are about 60sqm. In good repair having been painted and new carpets fitted, it doesn’t need anything urgently done. I think I got it for a great price.

Just so chuffed I can finally stop worrying, I’d only been viewing flats for two weeks and the first place I made an offer on I was outbid considerably. Perth itself is really nice and a lot of money is being spent on the place - in fact the major project I’m working on is a £120million infrastructure project in the city. It’s absolutely ideal for my job - can travel to sites all over central Scotland easily and I am in fact across the road from an office should I need to pop in. Can’t wait for a fresh start and some extra room!

Good for you! I hope everything goes well. We are in the middle of our own major change. We have sold our place, but we are still in it for another four weeks. Selling our place came about because we ran into a place and a deal that was something we want to do. It's been very, very stressful. We can't wait to get on with our new life. I never imagined this happening to us at our age. But here we are. What an adventure.

Good news for you! That must be a great feeling to have nailed it and removed the stress of finding the right place. Happy for you!

Hi Neil, I'm so happy for you!

And now for the mortgage payments, but don't worry, they only last for 25 years!

I remember my first purchase which was a 1 bed flat in Hemel Hempstead where I knew no-one.
I was there for five years then I was moved down to the south coast. I made a good profit on the flat.

I went with some lovely guitars all of which I had to sell for the first three month's payments, but I caught up pretty quickly.

I really hope that you and your mum will be very happy there!

All the best, old Andy

Foxo, another congrats from across the sea. There's no place like home in my book!
And, learned a new word; "chuffed"....an unfamiliar term to us---like it!

There are much worse places to live in than Perth. All the benefits of a city, but with exceptional countryside on the doorstep and good transport links (as long as you don't need to fly anywhere).

It’s so nice to read this great news. Congratulations.

I do not enjoy finding a home and moving. I’ve done it twice. My wife really wants to move into something smaller at some point. We’ll see. I’ve told her I will help her with her move. Ha. I just get too stressed out by it.

I'm moving at 70 yo and it's better to make the final move sooner rather than later.
