lowden style body shape
I really love the O series Lowden shape but the prices are out of my reach. While I know nothing will SOUND like one, is there any company that's has a similar shape to the O series? Even factory built models.

As a happy owner of a O25c, I encourage you to look for a used one. It remains my favorite guitar since I got it in 1998.

I purchased a new Lowden O23 walnut cutaway and found it did not suit me comfort-wise.
If you don't insist on the sound of the big box then perhaps a Sheeran might suit your needs. It has the basic style in a smaller body and a lot fewer dollars. The walnut cutaway S04 even has a body bevel to make it a bit more comfortable to hold. https://sheeranguitars.com/guitars/the-s-series/ Last edited by Rudy4; 02-11-2022 at 06:17 PM. |

2nd the recommendation to look around for a used. I bought a used F model Lowden and it's the 2nd best guitar purchase I ever made, after my purchase of a new F model.

You might also look for a used Avalon. I think they have a similar shape

Early Avalons have an identical shape, being built using the old Lowden jigs by the same staff, but slightly different bracing.

Without knowing your budget, at the more affordable end of the spectrum than the models already suggested, Faith's Jupiter model is exactly the same size in every dimension as a Lowden O. Presently they are not in production but recent posts on their Facebook page imply they are bringing the model back.

There was a time when Lowden had guitars made in Japan. Sometimes they appear in the second hand market, for much less than ones from Northern Ireland.... From what I hear, they are pretty good.

Dowina guitars are superb and excellent value for money. I wouldn't go near a Sheeran.

Yes, the Japanese made Lowdens are very good, but hard to come by.
