Default Feeling utterly miserable now..

Few weeks ago I was having a school exchange trip in UK. I had a chance upon a limited Faith Patrick James Eggle Standard OMC which was handmade in Czech republic, it was 40 percent off it's street price. It was a gem hiding amongst the big brands in the guitar shop. What stopped me from pulling the trigger was because I thought I should have enough.

But the tone of the faith guitar kept haunting me even though my 1989 710 Taylor was a tone monster itself.

So in the end I decided to email the shop to pull the trigger but only to my dismay, the guitar was sold..... Now I'm feeling so miserable and thinking why didn't I just pull the trigger there and then. Sigh.

You should celebrate instead the realization that you have enough. Very few reach that point during their lifetime.

One might pun "Oh Ye of Little Faith!"

But indeed I'm sorry you missed out on this great guitar. Others await, however....

Don't worry, seriously, in our experience, usually these things have a way of working out for the better, just keep your eyes peeling in the near future!

A line in a song by Rod Stewart springs to mind and its vv

" Get in kid before its to late, as you may not get another chance "

Anyhow you have others, so not worth the worry about it now ..

Many of us remember," the one that got away", yet if you have a guitar that still brings you joy," it is but one road not taken".

One of the few redeeming truths about Guitar Acquisition Syndrome is that there will always be another heavenly delight somewhere down the road. In the near or distant future, you'll pick something up in a guitar shop that will make you forget all about this one.

I subscribe to the "it's always meant to be" theory. From hearing that guitar you now have a point of reference that will effect your tonal tastes in the future. It could lead to a similar guitar or it could lead to something else, but you are now changed. Don't feel miserable... its all one long process to finding your voice when it comes to guitar.

Have a happy journey!

Sorry to hear that. My attitude is life is to short to hesitate. Next time just buy it. You can always sell it and get all or most of you money back but once it's gone, it's gone.

It's only the one that got away, because it got away... nice as it was, it wasn't so special you couldn't leave the shop without it. Now you're in the want-it-but-can't-have-it trap.

Forgetting about it is the cheaper option here. Will it make you a better player? nope... Will it make you nail that part you can't nail at the minute? nope...

I've been fortunate to play a number of very fine guitars that I will never own. I'm not miserable at all, I'm glad to have had the opportunity!

And I'm blessed to have the guitars I do have. A gratitude attitude prevents G.A.S. - it's no platitude.

There are SO MANY guitars out there. Just keep on searching and I'm sure you'll find something you like even better.

Hi Guitar Bench!

Welcome to the forum. Great to have you here...

And to second that comment to AL, if you keep experiencing guitars, there will be more than one great guitar. There will be others...

Yes. There's another guitar waiting somewhere. You'll feel better in a few days. All of us recall the ones that got away. But we enjoy the one(s) that didn't get away.
