What kind of back and sides would this have and are NT Necks good or no? I am working on acquiring one of these as we speak... so any info/advice would be GREATLY appreciated!

The back and sides should be ovangkol, just like the current 400 series. If it's a LTD, then perhaps it could be different. Here's a thread which discussed when Ovangkol was first used on the 400 series:
http://www.acousticguitarforum.com/f...ad.php?t=53070 Also, the NT neck became a standard feature on all Taylors (at least the 300 series on up) in 2001. Not sure if that means every 2001 has it or not (but I'm assuming yes): (http://www.taylorguitars.com/guitars...atures/nt-neck). The NT neck is great. If you have the serial number, you should contact Taylor for specifics. |

One of my favorite guitars is a 2001 414ce and it is an ovangkol body with a spruce top. The NT neck is nice. Adjustments (resets) can be done in a matter of minutes for around $50 versus $400+ and months of waiting for a dovetail neck, ie: Martin.

Thanks for the responses. I decided to pull the trigger and I am very excited to get it and try it out. The figuring in the Ovangkol on the back is ridiculous! Anyone else who wants to chime in... feel free!!!
