Default The smell of Rosewood

I swear I get a euphoric high every time I take my Martin out of the case! The rosewood smells so good! Anyone else get high from smelling their guitar?

I don't get "high" from it, but I do enjoy the woody smell when I open my Gibson acoustic's case. I posted about it a few years ago here and was told that probably the smell was coming from the wooden case, not the guitar; but about 10 months ago I got a Hiscox case, and the smell is still there. It sorta brings up fond memories of wood shop in high school "shop" class.

Right now, the smell of my newest (Lowden Wee Walnut/Cedar) is the strongest, but I love them all!

OMG Yes!
A couple months ago I bought this new Martin D-28 Authentic 1937 VTS with Madagascar Rosewood back and sides.

I open the case and check that nobody's watching.
Then I drop to my knees.
I bring my nose close to her soundhole, but not touching, not yet.

She smells exotic and foreign, pungent yet sweet, spicy, rich, and seductive.
I can hold myself back no longer; I take her into my arms.
I begin salivating like at that first taste of ice cream I make from scratch with those expensive real vanilla beans in the glass vials, also from Madagascar.

Shamelessly, I bury my nose in the hole and inhale deeply, slowly as my eyeballs involuntarily roll back into my head.
Ahhhhh!

I love it too! I do the same thing... open up the case to my Gibson J29 and get a nice feeling from the smell.

I've got a ca. 1875 Bay State parlor: Adi/Braz, cedar neck, French polish...

Still smells heavenly after 140 years...

I always look forward to opening a case, taking a deep sniff and pulling a guitar out. Each one smells different and wonderful. I've been told that it's not all the woods but each is unique.
