Default Action on GS Mini.

Got my GS Mini yesterday. Just wondering if the action is too high or it's just right.

Looking at the raised fret ends I'd say the string clearance is the least of your problems. Are they really popped up, or is it an optical illusion?

It's hard to tell from the picture whether the frets are lifted are not, but I think that we just can't tell where the fretboard ends and the dark background begins.

Nevertheless, the action looks like about 3mm or 8/64". It should be more like 2.4mm (6/64").

A friend recently bough a GS Mini which had even higher action. He took it back to the store and traded it for one that was better, and it sounded better too.

Is it really humid where you are?

Looks to me like it's just under 3.0mm.
I strum, pick and finger style and like mine a little under 2.5mm.

I don't think we have the same height.
My ruler is totally metric - no inches.
Your ruler is metric on the left hand side.
I read yours at just under 3.0mm.
I read mine at just under 2.5mm.

Yours is about 0.5mm higher

Yeah, measurements of tenths of a millimeter are great.

How's it feel?

This is what I'm seeing too. 6/64" (0.0937) at 12th fret low E is Taylor's factory spec. Order from Sweetwater and the GS Mini shipped to be was ridiculously high. I contacted Taylor and provided pictures and they offered to pay for the a setup at an authorized dealer under warranty.... Since I didn't have a week to wait for the nearest authorized Taylor service center to get the guitar back to me I tried dong the traditional basic adjust with true rod and saddle trim, was able to get get the action down from around 0.120 to ~0.082. Also ordered a replacement GS Mini saddle from Taylor ($12.99) with intent to do a proper Taylor setup with neck reset down the road.

It feels high tbh. A bit hard to play.

Not sure we can jump to that conclusion. Of the thousands of GS Mini's built every year, we have a handful of reports on a guitar geek forum. This is almost the definition of anecdotal evidence.

At 4/32" or 8/64" the OP's action seems high, but that can be dealt with easily enough by a Taylor tech.
