For some reason I don't see those Gotoh open backs on stew Mac or all parts.

This is the first time I've seen these also. I think it is great that Gotoh has dealt with the one design issue (IMO) on open back tuners. EVERY set of open backs I've ever had (Waverly/Gotoh/Grover) had the same issue. Once the guitar is up to pitch, the tuner is stiff, which I think (!) is the tuner shaft binding on the bushing ever so slightly. With this new Gotoh, they have dealt with that by making the tuner constructed like a sealed gear (bushings screw in to the tuner body).

I look forward to seeing these when they become available.

Jimmy

Well, part of that in StewMac's case is that they don't carry anything that directly competes with their Waverly brand of tuners. Waverlys are made by Stewart-MacDonald.

The other reason that these tuners are probably too new to be at Allparts yet.

Probably the fastest way to get some would be to talk to the folks at Japarts.

You may want to consider the all carbon fiber guitar tuners made by Italian company Heart Sound. A six tuner set only weighs 42 grams. That's only 7 grams per tuner. By comparison, Gotoh Stealth tuners, possibly the lightest available on the market before these Heart Sound tuners are 11.8 grams per tuner. There's a good chance I'll be trying out these Heart Sounds on my Emerald Chimaera 6/12 doubleneck. Of course, I'll need three sets.

Myself and another AGF member "ac" have been in recent touch with the company. The tuners are available through their website.

I put Hipshot open back tuners with Hipshot small black plastic "Schaller-look" buttons on my Taylor:

Just some plastic Gotoh buttons for the current tuners should make a decent difference.

Sorry, but since I'be been working out I can't feel the difference in my guitar's weight between open and closed back tuners on my guitar.

... now could someone help me find a guitar strap that's long enough to go over my neck?
