Hopefully whoever bought it did some pre-purchase research.

The interesting story is GC has listed the X7 for $2,600.99. The exact guitar is $2,245 new on Emerald’s website. Amazing.

I saw it for sale on the GC site and wondered why the heck they were asking more than then new price for that.

To add to this thread, I'm the one who bought the X7 from GC. It was the only way to try one out to compare to my X20 so I paid the asking price. I might have kept it at a fairer price, but when I returned it yesterday and told them they'd priced it way above the cost of a new one they just shrugged. So I'm ordering a new X7 from Emerald.

BTW, for anyone within striking distance of Denver, the store there has an X7 and an X10.

I figured this was most likely the situation. I should have said something, I would have looked brilliant!

I was at that GC on Colorado this morning. I saw the X10 but it was locked up and I really didn’t care to trouble staff since I had played one before.

I did not however see the X7. When did you trade that in? I may make a second trip to try it out! I probably won’t buy it for the price they are asking though. They want $2400 for the x10 and $2600 for the X7. That’s ridiculous when I can get one new and even pick the color (plus the included lagniappe) [emoji846]

It's back at GC and selling for the same price. Total amazement.

I will be up that way on Tuesday, maybe I’ll take a look. I have wanted to play one. Not buying at that price, though.

I’m curious how you like the Sable.

I own the Sable and the Touring. I also owned an X7 (I only paid $700 for it about 10 yrs ago). I find the McPherson far superior. But I’m curious what you think.

Man… I’d love to know the story behind why they paid so much. You made out on that deal!

Totally agree you about the McPherson compared to the X7. Haven't played the Touring yet but I do love my Sable. It has a fine acoustic sound and plays well. I was in Vegas a few months ago and won a nice little jackpot. It took all of the will power I could muster to not go to Heartbreaker Guitars and play the Touring model. I was afraid of what could happen.

When I traded in the X7, GC was a busy place that afternoon. The salesman was trying to work too fast and had a little bit of ego working for him. I patiently waited while he finished with the mother and son buying a guitar all the while he kept talking to me. When got to me, I unzipped the gig bag and handed him the X7. He looked at it with some wonder. I explained it was a carbon fiber made in Ireland and but he was already focused on his screen barely listening. He said “I can't find it.” I responded with “I got it right here on my phone.” Showed him the guitar and price on the Emerald website but he all but ignored it and said “I got it”. During his search I even mentioned how much it cost. He wasn't listening. I was prepared to hear a value around $800-$1,000. When he said he would give me $1,600, I focused hard to keep my poker face and calmly said “I can do that”. Then he gave me the 10% trade up discount for a total trade-in value of $1,950. Net to me of $1,550 was too good of a deal. It took three days for the McPherson to arrive at that GC. I was sweating it. I kept thinking someone would review the deal and cancel it. When I got the notice it had arrived, I immediately left work (work remote so not a problem) and drove to the GC. Got the guitar and quickly walked out the door. It was mine now, period.

Going back to Vegas in a week. If I get lucky, I may get to play a Touring model.
