Kevin--not to be disrepectful, or question anything, but $3k a MONTH?? That is simply ridiculous. Our congregation pays $9k a YEAR, to cover both me and my wife. Of course, it comes with the usual co-pays, and "co-insurance," which I admit by linguistics, I do not understand.

Anyway, it seems to me at $36k a year, they should be paying YOU to have surgery, not the other way around. Really. Are screws and plates worth that kind of "health-blackmail?" I dunno. Again, I am NOT debating your costs--just that if you joined the "Chamber of Commerce" in your Saylorsburg area, or whatever...well, I just cannot fathom these out-of-pocket choices. Heck, 35k is more than my base salary for a year. Something is wrong with this picture. I hope you can resolve it fairly. Hoo boy!

Default Thanks Norm

Norm,
That monthly premium includes all medical, full optical and full dental insurance for my family of seven every month. No copays, no perscription fees, no cost for eye exams or glasses or contact lenses for the six of us who need them every year.

It's not just the health coverage, but all of that also. Sorry i didn't clarify that in the beginningmb ut we pay it all together as a single premium to our joint coverage effort through the Chamber of Commerce here in Monroe County.

I appreciate the concern, but we shopped around for the best deal on everything together for us and our five kids.

Thanks,
Kevin

Well Kevin, I'm glad you did shop around. 5 dependents changes the picture considerably. We, too, would pay much more. Fortunately, our sons are with companies that cover such (HSBC Bank and IBM). It is just one more example of how the "little guy" gets screwed. The whole health-care industry is shamefull. 36K and they can't cover a few screws and a plate? Really!!.

Default Coverage

Norm,
They are willing to cover all of the screws and plates and materials, but the doctor was refusing to accept their payment and wanted his full requested amount instead of the insurer's submission of the fair cost as payment while the procedure was scheduled at the surgery facility that he happens to own .

It's an amazing loop when you actually dig in and research what is being being charged to your insurance for services and materials. I always request a copy of every bill that is submitted by a doctor to my insurance carriers whether it's for services, facilities or materials or consultation.

Everyone should try it sometime and they'll be amazed at the amounts that change hands during the process for tretment that starts with examination and diagnosis and goes on to treatment and then to recovery efforts.

Regards

Don't be so sure. From reading this thread and having played one of your guitars and heard the praises of those that play them, I'd say your contribution is far more important than you realize.

We'll be praying for you Kevin.

I am thinking of what combi to go with adironack. Coco, Malaysian Blackwood or ???

But definitely coco would be a more possible option for me now....

are you trying to go for a GC, OM, MJ? I think your wood choices would be dependant on body size as well.

what tone are you going for? style of playing, etc?

I'll begin this comment with an observation about a sense of sudden change (for the better) with my new Omega. This is a question for some of you on this thread who have, or have had, an Omega. Earlier I have commented on the issue of the guitar openning up. I have used the new Omega a few times now at gigs, and with the last restringing I feel that I can see a difference. Where I am going with this is... the process of changing strings, which had been on for a few weeks, seems to have eliminated a "masking" effect of the older strings. Thus I sense a processs of leaps and bounds as the guitar gets better as I put the new strings on. I'm not being very articulate here, but it seems like an up - down -up -down improvement as I deal both with newer strings and improvement in the tone wood over time. Am I just going crazy here, or is this something with the new guitar vs. the older one, where this is not so evident.
