I think it's a GC, MJ, then Jumbo.

Kevin does OMs, dreads, anything you can think of.

He's in the process of building my friend's African Blackwood/Italian OM. I can't wait till thats done!

here a sunburst pic I found:

What seems to be a constant, no matter which wood or stain or gloss coat, Omegas have a stunning appearance in terms of the woods used. That sunburst pictured above is like nothing else quite the same that I've ever seen. I'm sure the same can be said for virtually all builders...it's just something in particular I've noticed looking at all the photos in this thread.

It would be great if Kevin has some other pix of other guitars he's built that could be posted here. This has really become a virtual art-gallery of wood and steel.

Though I am not an omega owner, I am an admirer of Kevin's work. I agree with you. His works are fabulous and stunning.

Well Eric, as soon as I have the finance to confirm my spot. Which I hope will be soon if I manage to sell off one of my guitars.

The wood combination will be adironack and IR. I maybe thinking of cocobolo instead. But as of now will be IR.

I also wanted to have an adi guitar but wanted something that can be responsive enough to do fingerstyle and handle strumming well. Kevin suggested other tops but upon knowing that I am geared to an adi top, he encouraged me to go for it. He said that he has built adi guitars that are very responsive as well as powerful under heavy strumming.
This builds up my confidence in going for the adi top too.

Rainbow:

I own two Omegas, one with adi and one with Engelman (sp?). It is hard to tell how much of it is an issue of age and how much is the tone wood, but the Engelman is still my go to guitar at this point for performing. It is 10 years old and magic in its tone. I have been playing the adi constantly (except for when performing). It is a new guitar and will open up eventually, but there certainly is a difference in the two at this point in time. Do not misunderstand me here. Both sound great, but for fingerstyle playing (as I do) right now only one of the two is MAGIC!

Pat,

I experienced the same thing with an Adi topped guitar. when I first received it, it was nice, but I wasn't too crazy about it. when I had to sell it, it had developed a tone that was to die for! age is definitely a key factor is some of that magic you describe! gotta love it!

I guess I am going to be a real patient guy waiting for both the guitar to be built and for the tone to be developed.....

Great pictures. Someday I'll figure out how to post pictures of my humble two Omegas. Actually, Ericsong probably has the picture sheet on my latest because I believe Kevin offered it to him before me (the one with the sword inlay). I write this to inform Omega owners, and friends of Kevin who did not know, that he suffered a serious rotator cuff tear while in Africa and must undergo surgery. He posted this information on 9/20 to a thread here at AGF on rotator cuff injuries. Just reading his posting brough sympathy pains to my own shoulder. Send a prayer out his way.
