My vote goes to the Sound seat. Very comfortable and can adjust to fit anyone

Adjustability is very important to me. I'm short. The office chair I now use when I play guitar is gas adjustable and the top of the seat cushion is only 20 inches from the floor. But sitting on the edge of this chair becomes uncomfortable in a relatively short time. Occassionally my left leg falls asleep and I have to get up and interrupt practice.

One question about the Sound Seat. When playing in classical position does the foot ring substitue adequately for a footrest?

I use an extremely comfortable Roc-N-Soc drum throne that has a back on it, a gas lift, a foot ring , padded and contoured to my butt...and cost me WAAAAYYYYYY less than a SoundSeat. The people at Roc-N-Soc are very friendly on the phone and are very helpful, too.

Took the adjustable backrest off a junk TAMA Drum Throne and mounted it on a FENDER "Bar-Stool". My spine's been fused @ 10 levels, (2004), and this "home-grown" set-up really works well for me. I have, however, been studying/comtemplating the SOUNDSEAT for about a year....comments from you folks have really helped.
Really good to finally get off Yahoo and into this forum.

I play in the classical position and find the ring to be quite comfortable. JR will sell you a gas lift in the size that is correct according to your height.

Thanks Dreamincolor. I'll call JR as soon I can think of a good excuse for getting myself a gift (like my birthday coming up next month).

Smile Less of a chair, more of a stool...

Of course, if you like to play in the bathroom, a nonremovable seating is provided.

I also have a Sound Seat, the MD model for people with big butts like me! It's not only my guitar chair, but my office chair because my music room is also my computer room/home office. I can sit in it all day and bot be uncomfortable. It's definitely worth the money.

In the stool category, there are a lot of choices: Moby Keith, Barf Brooks, Big and Dumb....

Another thumbs up for roc n soc here. It is the only serious chair I've used however. I do pick up an occasional sqeak when recording but I could probably eliminate that with a little whale blubber oil or 3 in 1.

T-120,

We introduced the latest seat with an absolutely rigid back for folks just like you at CAAS this past week. I am not kidding, the chair lasted 10 minutes before it was sold. It is the TBSO Model. I look forward to talking to you.

My best,

The Roc & Soc is fantastic. I own two bicycle seat style thrones one with a back, the other without. They fit all shapes and sizes. It makes playing, teaching, etc. much more enjoyable. A+ product.

A big thumbs up for JR and his Soundseat.
Top notch product and top notch customer service.

Here's a shot of Franco Morone performing on mine.
