Tak players might dig this...my 1963 Takamine, hand written label...all solid wood too...

in the last pic, fourth row of kanji from the right...top 4 characters are 1...9...6...3. top to bottom. It`s the oldest Takamine I`ve ever seen, got it on line in japan for something ridiculous like $50.00 or close to that ... hard to remember `cause I didn`t write down how much I paid for it, I have a record of that stuff but forgot to write the Tak price...but it was crazy little money.

Man, seeing all these vintage Taks...whoo wee. Gonna have to grab me a F-340S to go with the 360. That 63 nylon has me drooling.

I am working a trade on a Ibanez Concord. They were a solid body "J200"
Huge on cool factor. I saw one on eBay that instead of Ibanez on the head it said "Kopycat" in MOP script!
Big guitars hurt my shoulder but If I can score it I will.

I have 4 Hohners from 1978 to 1980 these are from the HG-900 Arbor series all aged wood guitars HG-912, HG-920, HG-930, HG-950

The olny plastic on the guitars is the pick guard all the position markers and bindings are maple, saddle and nut are bone I love these guitars, they sound outstanding.

I can't help but slip in a pic of the rest of the herd LOL

They made some very fine guitars at times in Japan that could give any make a run for their money, example 1;

How do you like those Hohner's? There's a one up for grabs on the local CL for a decent price...Never heard of MIJ Hohner's before, only played the crappy lower end stuff. Gimme some info on the 920, since that's what's up for sale.

My series I Ibanez Artwoods, built between 1978 and 1980. These were intended to differentiate Ibanez in the post-lawsuit era with the advent of high-end, original designs to prove that the Japanese could meet or beat anything built in the US.

Many folks are surpised to learn that these series I Artwoods were all solid-wood, low-volume products. You think of Artwoods today that are mass produced and outsourced by Ibanez (Hoshino, actually), but that's not where things started.

Unfortunately, this was right around the time that musical tastes changed in the wake of MIDI-based synthesizers and this high-end product sold poorly as was true with pretty much all acoustics. Ultimately, the concept for the Artwoods changed radically in a couple of years because of low acceptance. Big shame as far as I'm concerned. Anyway, enjoy:

they look good but not sure the Japanese felt they needed to prove anything, they`ve been building top notch acoustics since at least the 1940`s...possibly earlier...haven`t seen anything earlier. True, they seem to have exported a LOT of cheap stuff, but since arriving in Japan I have come to realize that they evidently were keeping the good stuff at home.

GRAP IT THEY ARE GREAT GUITARS!!!!!!! The HG-920 is the first that I had gotten I wish I knew how to send a sound clip

Sneaky, that's interesting about "keeping the good stuff at home." I don't know maybe they needed to prove something, maybe they didn't... I guess my point was that the mid-late '70s were the peak years of the Japanese Gibson / Martin / Guild clones. For Ibanez (Hoshino) that era ended with a slap in the face by Norlin, and that's when they took the residuals of the Tama guitar facility and built the first Artwoods. The original catalogs of the day talk about originality, craftsmanship, small numbers, and wood, wood, wood.

Anyway, I hope my post wasn't offensive; I really am impressed by the quality of these guitars, believe me.
