2014 LJ6 ARE. Like it so much I think I'll also get an LJ16 ARE.

How Does the FG you have compare....
I'm thinking of entering the world of Yamaha but would prefer to start with something like the FS830 first....but if there is that much difference between the LS series and the FS series in tone...than I might jump for the $800 for the 116R over the FS830

Default Yamaha L series

Not exported to North America, I couldn't be happier with my LCX-5E, and now I've found 'The Club'. (solids, handcrafted, Taiwan '78 to '81)

Default LL26 LSX26C and bonus SA2200

Hi All, thought I would show my modest collection. These L series are wonderful guitars but getting very pricey in the UK now. I think the list is about £3,000. I've included the SA2200 because it is so beautifully made too.

Pics are taken with my iPhone, so nothing special I'm afraid.

Thanks - yes, it is an old post but a good one.

I've been meaning to post pics for ages.

Thanks for the kind comment.

Hi sixfour, great guitars, what year are they? Presuming the LX26C is a few years old, as I think they have stopped making those now. Yes, these are pricey. I have an LJ16, an LL16 and a more recent LS16M. How great do you find the difference between the 16s and 26s?

Thanks for posting the pix, the SA is nice too.

Wow, you have quite a collection too!

Yes, you are correct. That LS model is discontinued. I bought it second hand a couple of years ago. From memory it is a 2006.

The LL is one of the last of the previous generation. I think they updated them slightly in 2014 - or thereabouts.

It is hard to describe the difference, but the LL has more bottom end. The LS has more clarity and is more complex - if that makes any sense. It rings out in a similar way to a fine grand piano. Of course, it sounds nothing like a piano, but shares that complex ringing sustain quality. I prefer the LS.

The SA is a superb guitar too.

Hope to get a 26 or 36 in my collection one day! Your description of the sounds makes a lot of sense, there is a piano kind of thing going on.

Actually my LL16 is a LL16-12 for the record, just missed typing that in error. I wish they made a 12 string in the 26 series.

My LS model is the new ARE one in mahogany back and sides. I sometimes wish it had a little more bottom end, but it makes you play differently. Again, there's no hog b&s in the 26 and up.

Obviously I love L series guitars but it's worth adding as well, I can really here them are improving as they age - that includes the ARE, but particularly the LJ16 (2007), it has just warmed up particularly recently, if that makes sense.

Default Yamaha L Guitars

I own 2 L Yamaha's. I have a 1975 L53 & a 1976 L53. These have extensive pearl inlays on them. Exceptional guitars!
Pictures are in the John Denver guitar research site.

I really fancy a LL16-12. How do you rate it?

I owned one. Should have kept it. It is the king of the $1000 12 string. Lovely guitar at twice the price.

What Dave said. It feels and sounds like something worth rather more. It's great, and I don't think you'd be disappointed. Mine's an older one, I haven't played a new ARE one.
