Default Help with my new Alvarez Yairi WY1BW

Greetings members. I need your help. I just purchased an Alvarez Yairi WY-1BW and I was wondering if someone can help me with dating it and what the back and sides wood may be. The SN# is 68816. The guitar has a couple of age dings but is in very good condition.

I bet that plays and sounds as good as it looks!

I believe that model started selling in spring of 2006, with many of the guitars being manufactured in late 2005. Serial# 68751 reportedly was made in 2005 (from another listing a few years ago). Yours was likely made around the same time.

The back & sides are coral rosewood.

Edit: My contact at Alvarez is a guy named Tom (I will PM his email) - he has access to the records and drawers full of catalogs... but nothing is digitized or indexed, so what he can find is a bit hit and miss. He has always been helpful to me.

There is a lot of confusion over Alvarez Yairi serial numbers, as they seem to have changed over the years.
Your best bet is to contact Alvarez and see if they can determine the year.

Yeah even Tom will tell you the current serial number system isn't great for decoding them.

Thank you for all your help. I have never seen or heard of coral rosewood. Is this common in the Yairi line during this era? Thank you everyone for your help.
