Feedback from 810 owners???????

I fell into a new "new" 2005 810 at a great price that I'm seriously considering. I primarily play fingerstyle but like the sound of rosewood and the feel of a dread. How do you folks like yours?

I used to own an 814c and loved it. The 800 series is a wonderful style for picking or fingerpicking. If the dread body style is comfortable for you, you have found "the one". Don't hesitate-Go forth and do the right thing.

i own an 810 b. with an engleman top. a very dark sounding guitar. i must be ok it is a 2000 model and i played it a couple of hours today,fingers or picks it still makes me happy. gordon

The 810 is a fantastic guitar by any standard. I love mine and often play fingerstyle with it. Some will say an om, GA, or triple o is the answer, but this is overrated. Whatever you can make great music with is always a wonderful choice regardless of name brand ot body style. The 810 is a great guitar and is all most people will ever need. It is a good all-round guitar.

I have an 810 cocobolo. I absolutely love it - aggressive strumming, fingerpicking, flatpicking - it does it all. Perhaps the best commentary on its tone is that my best friend is a very gifted, North Texas Univ. trained guitarist who is 100% blind and consequently has probably the best tone and best ears of any guitarist I know. He raves about the sound of my 810. He's a serious player who owns Goodalls, Lowdens, Martins, etc.

A few years ago, I found a Martin HD-28V Dreadnought and considered buying it; I brought my 810 revoiced Taylor along a few days later to compare, thinking, "No way will this stand up to the Martin". Not only did it hold it's own against the Martin, it blew the HD28V away! And I saved over $2000 right there buy not buying....
The revoiced 810 is one of the most underrated Taylors and harder to find these days...Try one.

I recently purchased an 810ce Limited Edition.

It has Madagassgar (sp?) rosewood.

Truthfully, I played my Ephipone for 10 years..I think it is hard to get used to a really great guitar.

The tone is great, especially, fingerpicking.

I still have a slight concern for the low E and its ring but I am giving it some time.

I think it is a great guitar.

I'd grab a Martin in the same price rance and strum the two together. I'd be shocked (even after reading the above statments) if you chose the 810.

Taylors are great...just not in the DRED category IMHO

I bought a used 2001 810 no C no e about a year ago. I love. It is one guitar that I can truly say (and really mean it) that I will never get rid of. I love the neck and tone. It practically plays itself.

I guess it depends on what you want a dread to do. If you like a versatile instrument capable of many styles with a balanced voice then the Taylor fits the bill just fine. If you consider a dread to be more of a boomer, then a Martin may be the way to go. That's why I have one of each.

I have an older 810 and love it. It has a nice warm tone, is very loud and balanced. I have a friend who has one too, and plays everything you can imagine on (finger style, flat picking, etc). I say if you like it go for it

I have an 810ce-L10. When I was looking for a guitar, I was trying to find the one guitar that I could keep for the rest of my life.

I my search, I found that I wanted to own a Taylor and that it should be a dreadnought. I have found the dreadnought shape to be the most versatile of the offerings from Taylor. And with the 800 series being the "one that started it all" I was sold.

The 810, I feel, would be a great addition to your playing style. Versatile, well voiced, great for flat and finger picking styles, just all around cool.

In the end, buy what you feel most comfortable with and has the sound you desire. Besides, the hunt is sometimes more fun than the acquisition!!!

Hey guys, I am new here.

I chose my singer's Taylor 810. I think it is a 97 or something. It is an incredible guitar. SUPER loud. One of the best playing acoustics I have ever tried for any style. I also fingerpick and flatpick/hybrid pick.

I would put it up there with any other greats I have played, including a Santa Cruz and a Gibson reissue that I loved.

Generally good Gibsons are few and far between for my tastes, but they had this beautiful $1600 reissue at GC that I was in love with instantly.

I can't remember who said it, but they called the Taylor 810 the Swiss Army Knife of guitars, it does many things very well. I own a 2002 810-LTD Cocobolo B & S, Sitka top which I love. I recommend buying the 810 if it speaks to you sonically.

I'd go for it on the 810. I own a 2005 810 and absolultely love it. It came down to an HD28 or the 810. Everytime another player hears it they are blown away. Several times I have heard "that's the best acoustic guitar I have ever played/heard"

I believe I made the right choice, if I were to only own 1 great acoustic. Of course now................. I want the HD28, and a J-45 as well.

But again, if I went with one out of the three, I'd go for the 810. Picking or fingerstyle.
