Epiphone Elitist J45 ... Thoughts? - And another question ...
I recently tried a Epiphone J45 Elitist, which is a copy of the famous Gibson J45 (Japan model). Although the fit and finish is not as good as the Gibson, it sounded great. Typical woody and dry tone that you hear in a good mahogany dread, with lots of punch and volume. It is half price of a J45. What do you think of this guitar? Also can someone explain the difference between the "Masterbilt" and "Elitist" Epiphones?
Thanks Regards Phil |

Epiphones
I believe that Masterbilt is constructed in China at lower wages, while Elite models are the best Epiphone has, and made in Japan. (Possibly at the old Gibson/Orrville plant?)
Elitist guitars will cost more and be worth more at resale. Dave

Thanks for the info, Dave. Now i understand the higher price tag of the Elitist series. I though Masterbilt were Japan too...

This is odd. When I Google Epiphone Elitist, I only find electrics. Can anyone tell me where to find Elitist acoustics on the web?

Lots of choices...
I have seen J200s and the Sir Paul Texan Elitist, but haven't seen the J45.
The Masterbilt J45 that I played had a very thick neck. I am used to much thinner ones, and more comfortable with them. Here's a real Gibby Reissue found on eBay... http://cgi.ebay.com/Gibson-Bozeman-1...QQcmdZViewItem And... Martin's CEO 4-R also looks pretty sweet... http://cgi.ebay.com/2005-Martin-CEO-...QQcmdZViewItem
