Default I'm putting on Dragon Skins

I guess I'll through them on my parlor, 11 - 50's this time just to see if there is that big of a difference in feel in the 11s from 12s and to try out a coated string. I also bought a set of Elixer 80/20 12-53, I'm undecided where they are going to go on, probably my folk as its time. The silk and steel on that one sound good, but the B string is starting to bug me a little.

Are the Elixirs poly or nano? Let us know what they sound like. Im interested to know what folks think between the two if they have recently switched from one to the other

I used DR strings for a number or years, mostly Sunbeams, but also Rares and Dragonskins.

"To me" the Dragonskins lost some low end crispness versus the Sunbeams (great playability with the round core), and Rares (nice balance overall).

Been playing 50 years and still experiment with different strings.....

I like Dragon Skins a lot. They were all I used for a while. I got a bunch of EXP'S and Martin Lifespans on sale. When i get through them I'll probably go back to Dragon Skins. You can get them 2 for 1 at Musicians Friend.

Ok, they are on the Alvarez. So far, so good. No need for a settle in period, they are fine right out of the box.

And on the 2nd day I'm getting more squeak than on the Martin Retros. Lets see if that wears off.

I enjoy your string forays Barry. We went down the aluminium bronze path together and now that guitar has monel retros on it.
My D-16 GT has DR Rares on it.
As someone asked, I tried the elixir 80 20 polys on it and liked them alot. Warmer and darker than either of the nanos. Local store didnt restock the polys, said no one wanted them

I like the DR Rares and the Retros the best. A brace loosened on my Martin though so in its case it went. I just bought a set of Elixer 80/20 that I think I'm going to put on my Seagull.

I found the Dragon Skins to be a perfect mate for my Gibson AJ. That guitar is so loud that these strings bring it down just a hair, while bringing out a smooth, mellow tone. However, I will say that I get a little more finger squeak than I would like.
