Of course it is, but can you honestly say that you've never been tempted to throw an instrument across the room ?
I know I have ....at least back when I was young enough to have some testosterone.

It took me quite a few years to realise that inanimate objects were not conspiring against me!

Ever try tuning a Tele that has the traditional 3 saddle bridge ? That'll surely drive you to drink and probably drug.

I've never been mad at my guitars but I have felt sorry for them getting stuck with me as an owner.

I recall an interview with Clapton on one of those music documentaries (Behind the Music perhaps) where he was asked about some of his epic solos back in the Cream days. He told the interviewer that he was so blasted on whatever substances he was on at the time that he has no recollection of ever playing them. He hears them now and it might as well have been another guitarist altogether.
It just goes to show you that no matter what is going on with you on any given day, pick up your guitar. You never know what will come out of it! Of course it would help the end result if you're Eric Clapton!

I think that sig line is amusing as hell, but I guess subtle, whimsical humor is lost on some people these days...

I remember a similar interview with Carlos Santana. The interviewer asked him what it was like to play at Woodstock, his reply was that he didn't remember being there.

Jeez, isn't that the truth.

And, besides: even though there is no substitute for methodical practicing - "blaming" the guitar (or the blaming the moon for not being in the 7th house, etc.) can be a healthier instinctive response than saying "I suck," on the days when the music doesn't come forth as effortlessly as one would want.

I guess in this PC world even joking about blaming your guitar for your shortcomings is off limits. I'm stunned that some are taking this literally, to the point of commenting on the guy's drinking. WTF? Musicians used to be a blast to hang out with. Apparently, the Strat guys still are.
