Default What instrument is this?

http://www.womanthology.co.uk/strong...-photographer/

First time posting a link. Hope it works. Can anyone please tell me what instrument the little girl is holding in the photo? I'm thinking it's a mandolin, but it doens't look like any mandolin I can find online. Anyway, it's a gorgeous instrument.

Yep... it's a mandolin... I've seen that body shape/style before, but I don't know what it's called, as opposed to the old F style and A style Gibson mandolins of yesteryear. I don't think it is a particularly expensive one that the little girl has in her arms, but it sure looks like she's having a ball with it!

It is a mandolin, just not the traditional style we are used to seeing in country music.

It's a two-point mandolin body style, so named for the two points in the upper part of the body. Basically an A style with horns.

Love the expression on the little girl's face!
