Post Need advice: 714, 814 or XX-RS

I already have a 420MA, 610, 710, 810, 450PF and a XX-MC.
I like to buy a grand auditorium sizes Taylor that would fit in well in this collection. The XXMC is mahogany-ceder, so a bit like the 514. I like the 714 but wouldn't sound of that be to much like the XXMC? I live in a small place. No Taylor dealer around to try it. Bought all my other instruments on Ebay etc.

Get the XX-RS to match your XX-MC!

No, get the brazilian!

There are only a couple of dealers left who even have the 20th Anniversary models, so eBay would be your best outlet for that. (Besides, the dealers want to sell the matched set, not just one.)

As for the XX-RS sounding like a 714, I would say it should sound more like the 814. Most of the 700's have either engelmann or cedar tops, and the XX-RS has a sitka top, like the 814.

Good luck! Let us know what you get!

The 714 should even sound warmer than the Sitka 814, esp. if a cedar top. The 814 might be a little more versatile than the 714 for strumming, but you got a gang of dreads already for that. Nice problem to have.

BTW - You might want to check out H.C. as well as eBay. I've been pretty lucky there, too.

Good luck.
