Default NGD Lowden S35M

I picked up this 2018 Lowden S35M yesterday. It cost me my Waterloo WLK and a few pennies more but well worth it imo.

It was a 3 hour round trip to make the trade so not usually too bad but the English weather was absolutely shocking. Full on downpour all the way down from Yorkshire so flooded roads a plenty and windscreen wipers on hyper drive.

'Twas an adventure!

Anyway, to the guitar! Beautiful all fiddleback mahogany put to full effect on Lowden's compact, short scale S size body shape.

As you would expect the finish is impeccable. The upgraded Robson tuners are probably the best I've had on any guitar and the Lowden branded Hiscox case is the icing on the cake.

Now I'm not one for accurately describing sounds (it's very subjective, right?!)

All I can really say is the fundamental nature of mahogany coupled with Lowden's 'signature' sound (round, complex, piano like sustain) makes for a very interesting playing experience.

The mahogany takes a slight edge of 'that' typical Lowden sound, it is still there but a tad more refined....so at the same time because it is a Lowden that fundamental (for want of a better word) mahogany sound is probably a bit less, erm, fundamental than on other typical mahogany guitars.

Make sense? Thought not!
Whatever it is it makes it ideal for Rags n Blues which is primarily what I'll be playing on this little bad boy.

And for a small body this guitar is loud, especially when you dig in a little with thumb and finger picks!

Default wow!

That is one drop-dead gorgeous guitar. Sadly, there few if any shops here in New England that are certified Lowden dealers. I've seen few if ANY used Lowden guitars in the six-state region.

Huge, huge congratulations, Jonte!

Welcome to the Lowden S35 Club......

While the Waterloo is a big loss, the Lowden could seriously be the only guitar....and someone has broken in the top for you since 2018....

Thank you @BluesKing777!

Yes the WLK was a bit of a wrench but I still have the WL-14's so I'm happy.

Yes watched that one a few times along with the demo from Peghead Nation.

Not that much out there on the S35M but these two were enough to help convince me to go for it.
