Default nylon string on steel string acoustic

i need to know if i would hurt/compromise sound on my Taylor 312ce changing to nylon strings? can't buy right now

I don't think the nylon strings will fit on your nut. It won't damage anything I guess since the tension is lower. It's probably going to sound like crap however since a steel string guitar is built to vibrate under much more tension than a classical guitar.

It won't sound very good IMO and there are the difficulties pointed out by NitroBobby.

Taylor makes some very nice "hybrid" guitars with a narrower nut width then the standard two inch Classical style but designed specifically for nylon strings. If this is what you are looking for I suggest checking them out.

try the thomastk infeld classic s series strings ,they are hybrid metal strings designed for classical guitar but in a acoustic they give that classical sound and they have more sustain than nylon strings
they are pricey
