Default Thinline weights

Just got adds on my FB page for some new models and colors of Fender American Vintage 2 thinlines. They are retailing for 2500, and seem to be well appointed (and from my recent fender purchases, Ill assume well-built)

My issue is a $2500 thinline should NOT weigh in at over 8 pounds! All the stock was within a few ounces of 8 lbs. is the only ash harvestable water-laden? Im thinking 6.5 to 7 lbs for a thinline. 8 is for Sqiers.

ps…I mentioned this a while ago, and was hoping that was just a production run with heavy wood, but perhaps not the case…

I set out a while back to build a lightweight electric that combines the short Jaguar scale length with the simplicity of the single pickup Esquire and it came in at 4 pounds 6 ounces total weight.

Build Yer Own Jagsquire!

I had two MIM Teles in the past that I made hollow bodies for and customized with new pickups, etc. They were much better for doing an average gig night. Don't remember their exact weight, but they were in the 6 pound range.

Have a health issue which requires me to use a light guitar. After using a 3-4 lb guitar it is hard to go to something heavier. You might as well make the Fender into a Les Paul shape.

I have a Squier 40th anniversary Telecaster in Satin Vintage Blonde, non thinline. It is 7.08 pounds, I think it is quite on the light side. I think that there is no check or relation about model/products and weight. If you find a guitar built with a light wood batch, you have a light guitar. But this is purely random.
