Default Possible Low Humidity Issue? Gibson Guitar

On my Gibson acoustic, from the 8th fret high E string to 14th fret, no sound is produced when playing those notes. It's completely "dead".

I have a Dampit humidifying device I can put in the soundhole and see if that helps. What else would you recommend for me in this situation? I assume it's a low humidity issue?

Occasionally the guitar will have maybe 1 or 2 notes not sounding right, but never from 8th to 14th fret high E string... Thanks

It might be a saddle problem or a truss rod problem.

Can an issue like that happen all of a sudden? I've owned this guitar for about a year and haven't had an issue this bad.

Low humidity causes the top to sink, thus lowering the action. If the action is low enough, the guitar can fret out, especially if there is insufficient neck relief.

Step 1: Humidify.

And if that doesn't fix the problem...

Step 2: Tighten the truss rod 1/4 turn.

And if that doesn't do the trick...

Step 2: Take it to a competent luthier for evaluation.
