Alvarez 5022
I just came across a 5022 made in Japan. She has the date 1/12/ 74 stamped vertically on the left side of the Alvarez label. However there is no serial number on the Alvarez label Inside the guitar. The headstock is beautiful with a black bell shape Alvarez metal clip that is mounted at the top of the nut below the Alvarez logo and is secured by three small wood screws. There is also a beautiful rose emblem to the left of the Alvarez label. The tuners have a an over scripted S with made in Germany running across the bottom of the tuners. Sorry I just joined the forum and haven’t figured out how to send pics.
The guitar plays beautifully. Does anyone know the significance of the rose that appears to be factory installed on the guitar? Thanks, Smocker |

My first guitar was a 5023 made in the same year. Same guitar as yours, but with rosewood instead of mahogany.
Mine did not have the rose, and I've never seen such a thing in an Alvarez. So now you've got me wondering too! Also, mine had really cheap tuners. Those on yours must be replacements. Schallers, maybe?

The metal piece is the truss rod cover. The tuners aren't stock. Don't think the rose is either. Never seen one on an Alvarez head stock. Should look like the picture on the right.
