DMB set fire to a Taylor on stage during bizarre satanic act
The depths you have to plumb to get folk to visit a new thread these days.
Now you're here you might as well take part in a poll - Q. String preference: coated vs uncoated - do you like the feel of gortex next to your skin or do you prefer to go naked?

I am voting coated only because I like the way they last. If there were uncoated strings that could last me 3 months without needing any string changes, I'd go for them in an instance!
As for the coated strings, I am voting Elixirs only because there is no other choice. I have not tried D'Addario EXPs before, but I have a great hunch that those are my cup of tea. Because I used D'Addario uncoated phosphor bronze for a very long period of time before using coated strings. I am now waiting for the EXPs to be available at my local supplier's store. So coated it shall be.

Coated.
New strings sound funny to me. I like the sound of "broken in" strings; strings that are a few days old. Polywebs sound like that out of the box and stay that way. |

I've tried both poly and nano Elixirs and prefer D'Addario EXP's ....

I prefer Nanowebs, on my guitars being played by my girlfriend, whilst she is naked and uncoated.

I think the D'addario phosphor bronze sound better on my 314ce than either of the Elixers. I hate changing strings every week. When I'm fed up with the changes, I'll try the D'addario EXPs and see if I like 'em. I hope so.

The only guitar I have that I like coated strings on is my 314. Elixer's and EXP's just don't do it for me (especialy EXP's)...

I too like the D'Addario EXP's -- so do I vote coated in the poll or is that limited to Elixirs?
